The Flames can feel confident Vali has recovered well from his knee surgery given the successful minutes (23:12) he played per game in the Liiga.
So no doubt Hanifin is available in the right deal but an injury prone Kase is not the right deal. I would prefer Palmieri even though he is a UFA after this season and I think NJ would have interest.
We should expect a much better return than Kase!

DeBrusk yes.... but do we really need another left shot winger?
Future Flames Zary and Pelletier just cracked the Team Canada roster and they are both left shots too.

I am with you that Hanifin has not lived up to expectations as of to date. However, I hate to say it we are relatively thin on the back.
Gio - Anderson
Valimaki - Tanev
And the rotation of AHL/number 7 D man.

This to me brings the age old question, if not him then who? If we are trading to improve I believe replacing Hanifin (who still has potential to find his game, although I admit slim) with a forward or lesser D man is not the way to go. It just leaves too many unknowns on the backend for me.

I would not be opposed to a cost effective 3rd pair RD and a good pick as the return in a Hanifin deal.

I hope we keep Hanifin. He’s well liked on the team and he’s not as bad as Todd paints him out to be. He’s definitely not the reason we choke in the playoffs and he logs solid minutes. It’s not like he’s Darnell Nurse bad in his own end.

My acceptance of Hanifin being in the rumor mill is not based on his play as much as it is our needs to manage our cap, balance our roster and prepare for the expansion draft. Vali being ready (and durable enough) to play top 4 minutes is a gamble... but I think he is ready and its one I would be willing to make if a hockey trade for Hanifin is out there.

Lmao a 23 year old on a solid contract for a 29 year old who’s going to be looking for a contract that everyone will see as a bad contract in 2-3 years.....riiiiight.

Love how everyone says Hanifin isn’t good, kids only 23 guys, take a breather. They should trade an aging Gio first.

Return for hanifin should be exceptional before even considering trading him. We arent that deep on the blueline. Also, I really would like to see a full year of Andersson & Hanifin playing together 19-20 minutes a game & would like to see hanifin get more PP time & reduce Gio's minutes.

Gaudreau is the one that should get traded sooner than later, obviously not for free but a real decent hockey trade. I would add if Flames could have a Barzal for Gaudreau as the main basis for a swap. Just putting that out there. Thinking Barzal may want longer term than what Lou may be offering him in a bridge. Who knows.

We shouldn't be trading Hanifin. Gio is close to done, and only an unproven Valimaki would be left as LD. Not good.

If you can get Barzal for Gaudreau you make the trade. Unfortunately, you can’t. Gaudreau shouldn’t go anywhere unless it’s an offer that’s too good to be true.

Man if you get a chance to get a character, forward that can score, I don’t think I’d care whether he shot left or right.

Nice. Imagine he won’t be playing again until his kid gets the vaccine.

Kinda doesn’t make sense though. Calgary has a mill left and still has Kylington to sign and the Canucks have .3m left. Maybe if Ferland goes on IR to start the year.

We already signed a Travis Hamonic, his name is Chris Tanev. We don't need another one.

I guess it would make sense if Hamonic signed with Van.

He lives...

Pre-season boredom and speculation, with a dose of armchair GM...

SO who's getting the vaccine?
